Over Easy Breakfast Bars Review

I’ve recently had the opportunity to do an Over Easy Breakfast Bars Review [Buy the bars here] with several boxes of bars sent by the company. The company had no expectation of a review, and they didn’t ask for anything in exchange for this review. But, they gave me the bars for free. I hadn’t heard of Over Easy before, and if you haven’t, I wouldn’t be surprised. It seems to be a small company devoted completely to producing breakfast bars.

Real Food Ingredients

Over Easy breakfast bars come in four flavors: Peanut Butter, Apple Cinnamon, Banana Nut, and Vanilla Matcha. I tried the first three, which were the original flavors. Organic oats are the main ingredient of the bars. The second ingredient is a nut, either peanuts or almonds. The third is honey. From there it varies a bit depending on the flavor of the bar, but you could easily find all the ingredients in a well-stocked home kitchen. There’s no refined sugars, artificial flavors, preservatives, corn syrup, dairy, soy or wheat in the bars. If you had the recipe, it seems like you’d be able to make this at home. We’ve made similar homemade energy bars in the past. It’s nice to see an energy or breakfast bar, as they call them, made out of real food ingredients.

Over Easy Breakfast Bar Flavors and Taste

As far as flavors, the apple cinnamon and banana nut tasted a lot like a hardy, flavored oatmeal. The peanut butter bar tasted a lot like Clif Bar’s Crunchy Peanut Butter bar, so if you have had that before you’ll know what to expect. The apple cinnamon tasted like the apple cinnamon oatmeal, and it was my favorite out of the three I tried. The banana nut was my second favorite and had a rich banana flavor. I absolutely love Clif Bar’s peanut butter bar, and because of that, I was fully expecting to like Over Easy’s peanut butter breakfast bar the best, but it was the one that I reached for last. The other two just tasted better than Clif Bar’s or Over Easy’s peanut butter bar. All were good.

Stats

The bars have between 9g and 11g of protein in them. Despite only having between 220 and 230 calories each, the protein gave the breakfast staying power. Even during very active mornings, I found that I lasted to lunch or beyond without the desire to sit down for a lunch. I couldn’t find a list of all the vitamins and minerals, like you find on a Clif Bar, so I couldn’t compare the two brands and types of bars from that perspective. I typically take a multivitamin, so that doesn’t bother me. It would be nice to see it listed out.

Overall

This is an Over Easy Breakfast Bars review and not about Clif Bars, but the comparison seems fair considering the similarities in weight and size. When comparing price, the Over Easy are about a buck per bar more expensive. The price wouldn’t turn me away though, because the flavors are unique enough and the bars good enough that they’d be a great breakfast on any camping trip.

Overall, I’d recommend these. I’ll incorporate these bars into my menu planning for paddling trips going forward.
